Images of Yosemite National Park in Central California. Yosemite was the first National Park to be created in the United States. It has beautiful lakes, mountains, and waterfalls. Half Dome is its most famous feature.

The valley Is located on the western slope of the Sierra Nevada mountains and stretches for 7 miles (11 km). More than half a dozen creeks create waterfalls into the valley falling from 3000-4000 feet (900-1200 m) above the valley floor, which is 4000 ft (1200 m) above sea level. The streams combine into the Merced River, which flows into the San Joaquin Valley. The valley floor holds both forest and large open meadows. ..This is an infrared image which captures light that we cannot see and turns it into a visible image. Tenaya Creek runs out of the lake through Tenaya Canyon into Yosemite Valley. The surface of Tenaya Lake has an elevation of 8,150 feet (2,484 m).

  • Vernal Falls in Yosemite is a very rewarding hike. The waterfall is absoulely beautiful in the early summer. A rainbow is visible in the spray at the base of the falls.

  • While hiking in Yosemite National Park, I came across this very obese chipmunk, probably eating way too much food brought in by humans. Sadly, though this is a sad reflectioin that when we eat too much we no longer look as God meant to look.
